Mental (Behavioral) Health

Everyone reacts to stress and traumatic experiences differently. While some have reactions that can be seen as normal responses to life events, others may experience signs or symptoms of more serious conditions.

Mental health and substance use conditions can affect anyone; you are not alone. The Military Health System has many resources available to help those who need it.

If you or someone you know needs support now, call or text 988 or chat at 988Lifeline.org. 988 connects you with a trained crisis counselor who can help.

Ellsworth Air Force Base Mental (Behavioral) Health Services

Our facility offers the following mental health and substance use disorder services:

Mental Health

The Mental Health Clinic enhances the health and readiness of Airmen and families by providing mental health assessment, education, consultation, and treatment services to the beneficiary population through a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities. Our services are available to active duty service members only.  Although services are not available for dependents or retirees, the clinic can provide a list of available resources and assist in directing anyone to the appropriate resource in the event of a crisis.
Service members can access care through a self-referral by calling the clinic or through a consult made by a medical provider. Walk-in services are also available during normal duty hours.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment

The ADAPT Clinic provides assessment, education and treatment for individuals involved with high-risk substance abuse or dependence. Our services are available to active duty service members only. Although services are not available for dependents or retirees, the clinic can provide a list of available resources and assist in directing anyone to the appropriate resource in the event of a crisis.
Service members can access care through self-identification, command referral, or medical referral. If referred by your command team or medical professional, the ADAPT Clinic will contact you to schedule an appointment. Walk-in services are also available during normal duty hours.
